          Tarantula tattoo's are not that common when it comes to getting a tattoo for a number of reasons, one of the main reasons that tarantula tattoos are not popular first of all is that most people are scared of large spiders.

The old world tarantula species, is found throughout Africa and Asia, these tarantulas are aggressive in nature, and some do contain some venom, but they are not deadly.

 The new world species of tarantulas are found across the Americas, in the south and in the north as well as spanning the islands surrounding north and south America. The reason for this distinction between the two species, is that the new world species of tarantula are more closely related to the wolf spider.

  They seem to be large in terms of size though this is debatable as there are reports from southern Africa of a dead species of tarantula found that was twice the size of dinner plates while building the bridge between south Africa and Zimbabwe.

The other major distinction is that the new world tarantula is able to flick hairs called urticated hairs when they are threatened if these hairs get into your eyes and nose, you will be sneezing and crying for hours, so this is the main distinction between the two.

  This can be a little tricky, the new world species of tarantula are generally more fluffy looking like the Mexican red knee tarantula they have more bright colors than the general old world specie of tarantula found in Africa.

 Though for a great tattoo the gooty ornamental tarantula from south India to me is the most beautiful tarantula species on the planet, they look like they have been spray painted with a luminous blue on their body
